How it works
Most schools hand you a certificate and wish you luck. But the certificate is step one of five — and the step where new notaries most often stall is a deadline almost nobody warns them about. Here's the whole road, and how our tracker walks it with you.
The five steps to commissioned
STEP 1
Complete the 6-hour course (or the 3-hour refresher if you qualify). Your Proof of Completion lands in your portal instantly — it's valid for two years.
STEP 2
Book through CPS HR Consulting. Bring your Proof of Completion, your application, a 2×2 photo, and the $40 exam fee. 45 questions, 70% to pass — our simulator has the same shape.
STEP 3
After you pass, complete your fingerprint background check. The tracker includes a locator and a pre-filled checklist of what to bring.
STEP 4
State law requires a $15,000 surety bond before you can be commissioned. We connect you to a bond partner with your details pre-passed — we don't sell the bond ourselves.
STEP 5
Once your commission arrives, file your oath and bond with the county clerk within 30 days — miss it and the commission can be voided. Then order your seal from a state-authorized manufacturer and get your journal.
Every step above lives in your student portal as a checklist with deadlines computed from your dates — exam booked, Live Scan done, bond issued, county filing confirmed. No PDFs to lose, no dates to remember.
Your commission lasts four years. We capture the expiry date and remind you at 180, 90, 30, and 7 days before it — early enough to take the 3-hour refresher and keep your commission continuous, at our graduate price.
Enrollment opens the moment state approval is issued. Founding-list members get first access, the launch price, and free Lesson 1 plus the free practice exam as soon as they are ready.
Waitlist only — no course is being sold and no payment is taken yet.
